Since his arrival in New Zealand in 1973, Englishman John Key has earned a reputation as an entertaining Jazz Pianist working as a soloist in the top restaurants and international hotels throughout New Zealand including The Regent, Sheraton and Park Royal. His work with bands includes a European tour with The Rodger Fox Big Band featuring at performances at the prestigious "Montreax Jazz Festival" and Londons "Ronnie Scott Club" and national tours with "Wentworth-Brewster and Co". John has also performed on Radio, T.V. and albums with these groups. The last few years have seen the emergence of his own Jazz combo "Strange Fruit" which appears regularly ont he Auckland club scene and his 1994 release of a CD of his own compositions has been well received by the critics and has been nominated for Jazz Album of the year at the NZ Music Awards.
